Summary
History
The C4 made its first public appearance on March 4, 2017 with a pan-Canadian protest against motion M-103. Since then, they have been unsuccessfully trying to organize pan-Canadian demonstrations against attacks on freedom of expression.
Structure
Although C4 is essentially limited to a platform maintained by Hallak, it contributes to the dissemination of hateful ideas and the trivialization of racist ideas in Quebec and Canada. It should also be noted that the defense of freedom of expression is a recurring theme in C4 and contemporary far-right groups’ interventions, where they take advantage of liberal protections on freedom of speech to publicly defend their racist ideas (Kretzmer 1986).
Known Activity
The C4 managed to organize a national event on March 4, 2017 to denounce the Liberal Party of Canada’s motion M-103, which condemned “Islamophobia and all forms of racism and systemic religious discrimination.” The event aimed to condemn Motion M-103 as “a threat to their existence [as Canadians]” and an attack on “freedom of expression”.
Known Members
Georges HallakHallak is a right wing Christian: Islamophobia is the central theme of his political action. However, he denies being racist or fascist, and denounced a demonstration in Peterborough, Ontario, organized by neo-Nazi Kevin Goudreau, which has also earned him death threats.
